This morning at 11:26am Space Shuttle Atlantis launched for the final time, marking the end of NASA's space shuttle program. It's the end of an era, and it will be several years before any other human launches from the US. Private industry is working on it, and may actually beat NASA to it, since at the moment Congress can't get their act together concerning NASA's direction and budget. It's frustrating and sad, but nevertheless Atlantis' flight this morning was flawless and beautiful. What an amazing ship; it's also the same shuttle I got to watch launch in person in 2009. I feel so fortunate that I got do to that, and I can't wait to see where humans go from here in space! I'm working on a commemorative piece for this right now, I just posted a WIP sketch today. Happy Friday, guys :)

It was rainy where I was in Hernando FL plus I forgot about it since we just checked out our new house at that time. Yeah, I've moved back to FL three weeks ago. When I was living in Lecanto many years ago, which is not that far way from Hernando, you can see the orange streak that was a shuttle. XDDDD. In fact I have at least two photos of that. Oh you can even hear the roar. O_o I forgot my brain...Hernando and Lecanto are on the other side of FL. Duh. ^^

It is sad there will be no more shuttle launches. :(
