Made this ages and ages ago (2000 I think) during my first BFA at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Our assignment was to do a
diptych, and of course I opted for fantasy. This was painted with oils on canvas stretched over masonite board, and is a fairly large piece...wherever it resides these days. In my parent's basement I think. While I think the drawing of the griffins isn't the best, I still enjoy how the red sandstone rocks came out. I remember looking at a few animated films, including Prince of Egypt and Aladdin, for inspiration on how to paint the rocks.
